This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Soft Signal application and related QR tag services (collectively, the "Service"). When you register an account or purchase a QR tag, we may collect:

  • Phone number (for SMS notification delivery)

  • Mailing address (for physical tag shipment)

  • Payment information (processed securely through our payment processor; we do not store card numbers)


b. Information Collected Automatically

When someone scans your QR tag, we collect:

  • The time and date of the scan

  • General location data associated with the scan (if provided by the scanning device)

  • The message submitted by the scanner

We do not collect or share the scanner's identity with the tag owner, and we do not share the tag owner's personal contact information with the scanner.


c. Usage Data

We may automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, including your device type, operating system, browser type, IP address, and pages visited within the app.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver SMS or in-app notifications to tag owners when their QR tag is scanned

  • Process orders and ship physical QR tags

  • Manage your account and provide customer support

  • Improve and maintain the Service

  • Comply with legal obligations

  • Send service-related communications (e.g., order confirmations, policy updates)


We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.


3. SMS Notifications

By providing your phone number and registering a QR tag, you consent to receive SMS notifications when your tag is scanned. These are transactional messages related to your use of the Service.


Message frequency varies based on tag scan activity. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of SMS notifications at any time by texting STOP to the number from which you received the message, or by updating your notification preferences in your account settings.


We use Twilio to deliver SMS messages. Your phone number is shared with Twilio solely for the purpose of delivering notifications. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.


4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who assist in operating the Service (e.g., payment processors, SMS delivery providers, shipping carriers), under confidentiality obligations

  • Law enforcement or government agencies when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public

  • Successor entities in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided to users


We do not disclose tag owner contact information to individuals who scan a QR tag. The core privacy protection of the Service — anonymous, one-way contact initiation — is foundational to how Soft Signal operates.


5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address listed below. Some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.


6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
